エルダーフラワーのシロップ「有機コーディアル エルダーフラワー」を炭酸水で割ったエルダーフラワーソーダにここ数年間どハマりしています。マスカットのような甘さとグレープフルーツのほろ苦さが合わさったようなスッキリした味で美味しいんです。
I have been hooked on elderflower soda, which is Belvoir Elderflower Cordial, elderflower syrup mixed with sparkling water, for the past few years. It has a delicious, refreshing taste that combines the sweetness of muscat with the bitterness of grapefruit.
在宅勤務中にリフレッシュしたい時、週末お家でリラックスしたい時、ノンアルでおしゃれなものを飲みたい時、なんとなくお腹が空いているけど食べたくない夜の遅い時間など、いろんな時に飲んでいます。お酒を飲まないお友達が遊びにきた時も大活躍します。
I drink it at various times: when I want to refresh myself while working from home, when I want to relax at home on the weekend, when I want something non-alcoholic and stylish to drink, late at night when I am kind of hungry but don’t want to eat, etc. It is also very useful when friends who do not drink alcohol come to visit.
エルダーフラワーとは、クィア・アイでアントニが、エルダーフラワーリキュールを使ったカクテルを教えてくれたことがきっかけで出会いました。その後、東京に住んでいた時に訪ねたイタリアンレストランで、偶然エルダーフラワーソーダを見つけ、頂いたところとっても美味しかったのです。
I first encountered elderflower when Antoni taught me about cocktails made with elderflower liqueur on Queer Eye. Later, when I was living in Tokyo, I happened to find an elderflower soda at an Italian restaurant I visited.
お店の方にどのように作っているのか尋ねたところ、「エルダーフラワーシロップをスパークリングウォーターで割っている」と親切にシロップのボトルまで見せてくださいました。
When I asked the waiter how it was made, he kindly showed me a bottle of syrup, saying, “We mix this elderflower syrup with sparkling water”.
以来、オンラインで同じエルダーフラワーシロップを購入し、シロップを炭酸水で割ってエルダーフラワーソーダをつくっています。シロップは少し高いのですが、10倍希釈して使うので、1本（500ml）で5.5リットルのエルダーフラワーソーダを作ることができます。
Since then, I have been buying the same elderflower syrup online and making elderflower soda by mixing the syrup with sparkling water. The syrup is a bit expensive, but it has to be diluted 10 times, so one bottle (500 ml) can make 5.5 liters of elderflower soda.
お店で売っている炭酸水と割ってももちろん良いのですが、僕はソーダストリームでエルダーフラワーソーダを作っています。そうすることで、炭酸の強さを調整することができます。空きボトルも出ません。
You can of course mix it with sparkling water sold at the store, but I make elderflower soda with my SodaStream. This way, I can adjust the sparkling-ness as I like it. No empty bottles are produced.
たまたまこのシロップがイギリス産ということもあり、イギリスではより身近に購入することができています。なくなると残念な気持ちになるので、常に冷蔵庫に1本、戸棚に数本は常備しています。
It just so happens that this syrup is made in the UK, which makes it more accessible to purchase for me I always keep a bottle in the fridge and several in the cupboard, as I would be sad if they ran out of stock.
